Inside my Project

Inside my sketchbook
The Life and Times of the Infamous Red Terror
This sketchbook is for my Final Major Project. I will be creating a character based on myself as a toddler who will go on adventures and get into trouble. The stories are meant as Cautionary Tales and will be a series.

17 pages of research. This research has actually really helped me in terms of style, even though I chose to use my own style in the end. I used my own style because all three of the artists I chose to research had their own unique style.
Also because nothing comes more easily than drawing in your own style and I wanted these drawings to just flow out of my pen.

The first attempt. I didn't like the eyes or hair.

Version 2 with new eyes and hair.

I took inspiration for the eyes from Disney looking at many of the Disney Artist's styles.

Version Three. The head was too small.

I asked people in my class their opinions using these.

The Red Terror and The Grasshopper

One day the Red Terror was playing with her set of plastic insects: a beetle, a snail, a spider, an ant, a slug, a wasp, a ladybird and a grasshopper. The grasshopper was her favorite. She loved everything about it.
She also loved making shadows on the wall with the lamp. Suddenly she had an idea. Use the grasshopper to make a scary shadow and frighten mommy.
She balanced the grasshopper on the carefully and ran out of the room.
MOMMY! MOMMY! THERE'S A MONSTER!
She yelled at her mommy. When she ran into the front room there was a horrible smell and the shadow she'd made before had vanished.
Her grasshopper had turned into a horrible green gloop smoking on top of the lamp. She lifted up her grasshopper quickly leaving sticky slime trails on the lamp. Its legs had dissolved and melted. It burnt her hand.
She screamed and dropped the grasshopper onto the floor. Mommy picked up the grasshopper and put it into the sink to cool down.
The Red Terror was very upset that her toy was ruined and she would never put her toys onto the lamp again.
